Joachim Pissarro

Joachim Pissarro is an art historian, theoretician, curator, and museum consultant. He is also an internationally sought-after speaker and interviewer at biennials, fairs and museums. He has taught at Yale University, Osaka University, Sydney University and at Hunter College of the City University of New York. He has held curatorial positions at Kimbell Art Museum, Fort Worth; Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven; and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York.


His latest book Aesthetics of the Margins / The Margins of Aesthetics, Penn State University (with David Carrier), follows Wild Art, Phaidon, 2013. He has curated countless exhibitions, including Nothing Still About Still Lives: Three Hundred Years of Floral Compositions, at Deji Museum, Nanging, China (2023); Jeff Koons: SHINE, for Palazzo Strozzi in Florence (2021); Crystals in Art: Ancient to Today, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Arkanas (2019); Olga Piccasso, at the Musée Picasso, Paris and the Pushkin Museum, Moscow (2017); and Vincent van Gogh: The Colors of the Night, co-curated with Sjraar van Heugten, Van Gogh Museum and The Museum of Modern Art, New York (2007-2008).
